Kirra Dive 'On the Tweed'
Tweed HeadsAbout this dive shop
Kirra Dive has been part of the Gold Coast and Tweed diving community since 1988 — back when air fills were cheap, wetsuits were thick, and adventure meant grabbing your mates and heading offshore with nothing but a tank and a grin. Born from the passionate members of the old Tweed Aquatic Club, Kirra Dive first operated behind Kirra Surf at Kirra. But as the coast developed, so did we. When the bulldozers came to make way for the high-rise that now stands over our old Nissan hut, we knew it was time to move on — and we’re glad we did! In 1996/97, the shop was bought in what could only be described as a “fire sale.” At the time, Kirra Dive had a weak pulse and wasn’t expected to last the night. But with hard work, plenty of laughs, and a few sleepless nights, the shop was revived. After three years of grit and graft, we got it standing tall again — breathing on its own and proving that maybe, just maybe, this dream was worth the dive. Sure, staying at Sea World might’ve been the easier option — but we soldiered on, smiling through the salt spray, second-mortgaging the home, and metaphorically selling the kids to science (don’t worry, they survived). And now, decades later, we’re proud to be one of the longest-running dive centers on the Tweed. Our Story Founded in 1988, Kirra Dive on the Tweed is a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre (IDC) dedicated to delivering top-quality training, service, and adventure to the scuba diving community across the Gold Coast, Tweed, and Southeast Asia.
