Scuba Roatan

Green Outhouse Wall is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Roatan, Honduras. This dive site has an average rating of 4.09 out of 5 from 11 scuba divers. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills.

Overheat Reef is our "homebase" reef area, so to speak. Located only 5 minutes from the shop, it is also one of our favorites with an abundance of sea life and a great variety of topographic interests, including, sandy bottom area, cobble areas, the reef top and the reef wall which runs from about 12 M/40 FT down to 24 M/80 FT. This is a fantastic dive site for snorkelers and divers due to mixed depths, marine life and topographic interests.

Another distinctive dive site, Pillar, as its name suggests, is a coral spire just off of the reef wall. The mooring is on the top reef at 35 ft / 10 m, but a very short swim takes you over the top of the spire which tops out at around 90 ft / 27 m. This site descends well beyond the recreational limits so watch your depth closely.

Just at the western beginning of Sandy bay this shallow dive site with a big sand patch is very convenient for diver courses. The wall drops to 100 feet and can accomodate advanced levels.

El Aguila (The Eagle) is Roatan’s most popular wreck dive and is located just off Baileys Key and Anthony’s Key Resort. It was a concrete freighter and sunk off Utila. The wreck was raised, stripped out for diving, and then sunk again by a consortium of dive shops on the island in 1997.

El Aguila is our "home" wreck site, located a 5 minute boat ride from our shop. It is a 60 M/200 FT cargo ship that was purposefully sunk in 1997 by Anthony's Key Resort. One year later, Hurricane Mitch hit Roatan and broke the wreck into 3 pieces and tilted it to a 45 degree angle. Typically we enter the water at stern following the mooring line down to a great swim through. From there we transit the length of the ship which presents another great swim through along the collapsed middle. When we arrive at the bow there is a great swim through an area that terminates with a vertical exit through a former hatch. The wreck is culminated by spiraling up the bow mast to a depth of approximately 20 M/60 FT. With time permitting, it is a relatively short swim to the reef wall and an area that is known for often having Seahorses as the highlight.
