Seastar Cruises premium luxury cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a pristine coral cay island. The fast-air-conditioned catamaran, Seastar, can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, a seabird and turtle sanctuary. This is also the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. After a spectacular snorkel/dive, we have an all-inclusive buffet lunch onboard. Then, we make our way to Hastings reef, arriving in only 20 minutes. It is 30 nautical miles out from Cairns. On our return cruise we pass Oyster reef, Upolu cay and Green Island, arriving at Cairns at approximately 4:15pm. Seastar is the boutique reef tour – taking a maximum of only 36 per day.

Hastings Reef - Fish Bowl

Right at the edge of Hasting Reef, south part, Fishbowl has a nice coral wall that offers a variety of diving and snorkeling experiences. An abundance of fish at its shallowest is what gives it its name. Easy navigation with the wall makes it a great dive site for new and advanced divers.

Wall feature up to 20m deep, shallow on top. It has a sandy patch where you can see heaps of sea cucumbers. It is a really good site to find small and interesting things around.
