Many believe the waters surrounding The Netherlands have more underwater life than the Mediterranean Sea. After diving in The Oosterschelde, you might believe it too. Bergse Diepsluis is less challenging than other dive sites in this area, but still rich with life. Situated in a tributary of The Oosterschelde, there is little to no tidal current, making it an ideal breeding ground for cuttlefish and squid. Colourful anemones, crustaceans and invertebrates are abundant year-round. Spring is the best time to see cuttlefish, but wait until the water temperature reaches 12°C/53°F. If you fancy a quiet dive or a night dive, Strijenham is the place to be. You can even dive outside the tide if you want, but you sometimes have to take into account a moderate current.

There is a small parking lot and you walk along the dike, until the bend, there you go into the water. Easiest to go into the water at high tide. When you dive here at rising tide, you can perfectly drift back to the beach here. Keep in mind that boat traffic can come quite close to the shore here.

It is a beautiful place heavily vegetated between 3 and 15 meters, deeper there is less vegetation with a sandy bottom below 22-23 meters. Entering the water is a challenge here (diving at low tide is therefore not recommended here) and the current can sometimes be a bit stronger here.

Gorishoek with a max 40m not for every beginning diver. You enter the water at the point of the pier. The left side is a forbidden area for divers. Swim out along the pier, and then make a round. You can return along the other side, but be careful not to enter the shipping route for the harbor.

The Anna Jacobapolder dive site is directly opposite the Zoetersbout dive site. This site is located on a ferry port where the ferry services used to sail between Anna-Jacobapolder and Zijpe. Currently there is an oyster farm between the main dams.
