About this dive shop
DNA Divers by Apogon ASD is an Amateur Sports Association active since the late 1990s, founded by Graziano Trovato, a sea enthusiast since childhood. The association was created with the goal of sharing and spreading a passion for the sea, promoting technical and recreational diving, freediving, and knowledge of the marine environment in a respectful and conscious manner. Over the years, DNA Divers has brought together passionate divers, certified instructors, and experienced guides, operating in the following areas: Touristic and recreational, with guided dives and excursions in the Cyclops Islands Marine Protected Area and the Gulf of Catania. Educational, offering diving and freediving courses for beginners and advanced divers, suitable for all ages and accessible to people with disabilities, thanks to an inclusive approach and qualified instructors. Technical and cultural, actively participating in research initiatives and the protection of underwater heritage. One of our most significant projects was AKIS, an underwater archaeology project carried out in collaboration with the Sicilian Region’s Superintendence of the Sea, the Coast Guard, and their diving unit. The project led to the recovery and museum display of amphorae and other archaeological artifacts. We primarily operate in Aci Trezza, a fishing village in the province of Catania, within the Cyclops Islands Marine Protected Area. This area, rich in biodiversity and unique volcanic formations, is the heart of our activities. We offer: Diving services and scuba courses for adults and children. Diving and snorkeling excursions, from the Gulf of Catania to Acireale. Educational experiences to introduce everyone to the wonders of the underwater world. During dives, you can admire the famous Faraglioni of Aci Trezza, also known as the Cyclops Islands: a fascinating underwater volcanic geosite formed by pre-Etnean eruptions. Here, you’ll find spectacular pillow lavas and columnar basalts, among caves, walls, and crevices teeming with an extraordinary variety of marine species. We are a reference point for those who love the sea, nature, and outdoor sports activities. Our commitment is focused on education, outreach, and the protection of the marine environment, so that everyone, from children to adults, can enjoy authentic and unforgettable experiences in harmony with our wonderful sea.
