About this dive shop
Thalatta Beach Resort is located in Maluay, Zamboanguita and faces the world renowned diving destination: Apo Island. The resort is close to Malatapay Market which is popular for both locals and tourists, and 20 minutes south from Dumaguete City, capital of Negros Oriental. Dumaguete is a university city and known as the city of gentle people. It has a number of attractions such as the Belfry, St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral, festivals, good value shopping and lots of restaurants including the Sans Rival coffee shop with delicious pastries. Dumaguete City attracts a considerable number of foreign tourists and has good ferry connections to neighboring islands including Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor. Thalatta Beach Resort is a comfortable little paradise built in a tropical garden and the perfect resort for the entire family. We will do our best to ensure that you enjoy your stay with us and that your vacation will become an unforgettable memory. We offer diving for all levels and make regular day trips to the beautiful world famous reefs of Apo Island where you can find turtles, Bigeye Trevally, shoals of Jackfish and other colourful reef fish. Our House reef is a world class muck diving site with many species of frogfish, ghost pipefish, coconut octopus and other critters. There are many dive sites nearby in Zamboanguita and Dauin where you can enjoy extensive reef and world class muck diving, comparable to Anilao and Lembeh. The diving is perfect for underwater photography! Negros Oriental, a true Paradise without equal, is located in the heart of the Visayas and unspoiled by mass tourism. Perfection comes from the use the highest quality design, materials, infrastructure and furnishings, as you would expect from a luxury “Boutique Resort”. We are one of the few, beachfront restaurants facing Apo Island where you can savour a fresh gourmet fish dinner. Purity comes from Thalatta’s commitment to the environment, to our guests and from the natural friendliness of the staff. Thalatta represents total respect for the sea and nature! We have implemented and maintained an environmental management system to reduce the consumption of natural resources, energy and water-saving programs and to prevent pollution by waste separation. We communicate our environmental goals to the local community and our guests in order to be in harmony with this lovely environment. Our Hotel is equipped with a solar powered water heating system, which requires no electrical energy. Our garden lighting and back up energy are also powered from our Solar Power system. In Greek mythology Thalatta, also known as Thalassa, Thalath, or Tethys, was the primeval spirit of the sea. Aesop wrote fables about her in which she spawned the tribes of fish. She is sometimes considered to be the mother of Aphrodite and one of the moons of Neptune is called Thalassa. A Filipino and French couple who love the sea, created Thalatta Resort which opened in February 2007. Our vision is “ Paradise, Perfection, Purity”.
