Ranking Transparency
Why search results appear in their order and how promoted placements will be identified.
Default order
Dive-shop and dive-site results currently prefer listings with an available featured image, then use a stable daily rotation. This avoids permanently fixing one business at the top.
Selected sorting
- Name uses alphabetical order after image availability where applicable.
- Recent prioritises recently discovered or updated records.
- Dive-site rating uses recommendation percentage, review count and name.
- Dive-site depth uses recorded maximum depth and name.
- Nearby results primarily use distance, then rating and review signals.
Search and filters
Search words, map area and selected filters restrict eligible results. Dive Shops, Dive Sites, Marine Life and Ocean Tracks search different fields and datasets.
Quality signals
Ratings, recommendation percentage, review count, image availability, verification state and completeness may affect particular views. No signal guarantees safety, quality or availability.
Paid and personalised results
Any future placement influenced by payment will be clearly labelled Featured or Sponsored and distinguishable from organic results.
Future personalisation may consider approximate location, saved items, searches or booking history only where disclosed and lawfully used. Material changes to production ranking will be reflected here.
